Khalil Halilu, the Executive Vice Chairman of the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), has reaffirmed the agency’s dedication to developing innovative, commercially viable solutions to propel Nigeria’s technological ambitions forward.
In an ever-evolving global landscape, Halilu emphasized that NASENI will stay true to its mission by continuously adapting and aligning its efforts to enhance the lives of Nigerians.
To reinforce this commitment, NASENI organized a two-day strategic retreat for officers overseeing its Development Institutes. The retreat aimed to ensure cohesion among the various units and alignment with NASENI’s overarching goals and vision.
Olusegun Ayeoyenikan, NASENI’s Director of Information, noted in an e-signed statement on Friday in Abuja that the retreat included Project Managers, Coordinating Directors, and directors from NASENI’s headquarters.
In his welcome address, Halilu described the retreat not just as a planning session, but as a platform to chart a blueprint for action. He highlighted the vital role of the participants in bringing NASENI’s vision to life.
“The discussions, strategies, and commitments formed here will dictate how effectively we position NASENI to lead Nigeria into a future defined by innovation, self-reliance, and technological advancement. It will also instill a shared commitment to excellence by adopting global best practices in innovation management,” he stated.
Halilu underscored the importance of cohesion between the Development Institutes’ goals and NASENI’s renewed vision, viewing the retreat as a crucial step in NASENI’s transformative journey.
He outlined NASENI’s guiding principles of Creation, Collaboration, and Commercialisation, which encapsulate the agency’s mission to deliver impactful and commercially viable solutions in line with President Tinubu’s renewed hope agenda.
“Today, we gather not just to deliberate but to lay the foundation for a stronger, more unified NASENI—one that is positioned to drive Nigeria’s technological aspirations to unprecedented heights.
“As an institution dedicated to advancing indigenous technology, NASENI has consistently been a beacon of innovation, a catalyst for progress, and a key driver of sector-specific solutions. However, to stay true to our mission, we must continuously adapt, align, and refocus our efforts,” he added.
Halilu urged participants to engage fully, think boldly, and collaborate purposefully.
“This is our moment to redefine our collective impact and reaffirm our dedication to a vision that transcends individual institutes, uniting us under the banner of progress for our nation. Together, we can and will achieve extraordinary outcomes. Let us move forward with clarity, resolve, and an unwavering commitment to excellence that defines NASENI,” Halilu concluded.
The retreat is expected to enhance leadership skills, achieve strategic alignment between the Development Institutes and NASENI’s overall vision, and ensure collaborative synergies with the headquarters. The event aims to streamline efforts, maximize resource utilization, and improve decision-making capabilities.
Additionally, the retreat focuses on shifting research and development towards market-ready, innovative solutions that can generate sustainable economic value.
