New Chelsea midfielder Dario Essugo has expressed his ambition to leave a lasting legacy at Stamford Bridge, stating his desire to win major honours and etch his name into the club’s storied history.
Speaking on Tuesday, June 10, the 20-year-old reflected on some of his earliest memories of the club, including José Mourinho’s second spell in 2015 and Chelsea’s 2021 UEFA Champions League triumph in Porto — a moment he says left a strong impression on him.
“My earliest memories of Chelsea are from when José Mourinho was here in 2015, but the one that stands out most is the Champions League final in 2021 — especially since it was held in Porto. That victory and the legends who have played here really inspire me,” Essugo said.
The young Portuguese midfielder, who recently completed his move to the Blues, made it clear that his goal is to help the club continue its tradition of winning.
“I want to win as many titles as possible — not just the Champions League, but also the Premier League, which is always tough. I want to play regularly, win trophies, and be part of Chelsea’s history,” he added.
