The Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Kwara State Chapter, has extended its congratulations to the newly elected and inaugurated Local Government Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, and Councilors. This development is seen as a timely catalyst for enhancing public service delivery at the grassroots level.
In a press release signed by NIPR Kwara State Chairman Gabriel Ogunade and Secretary Abdulrahman Sanni, the Institute commended the rejuvenation of the third tier of governance through popular elections facilitated by Executive Governor Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq. The NIPR highlighted that many progressive states have achieved notable development through agile and creative local government administration.
“We cheer with the good people of the state of harmony and congratulate the Executive Governor, a distinguished National Honoree of our reputable NIPR Institute for Excellence in Corporate Governance, for once again showing class by effecting the requirement of the law in the conduct of the elections and the immediate inauguration of the elected officials into action,” the release stated. “This signals the posture to work required and expected of the new Councils.”
The NIPR urged the newly appointed Local Government Chief Executive Officers and their teams to adopt a competitive approach to developing their respective Councils. They emphasized the importance of using professionals, particularly in Public Relations, to craft and implement developmental programs that position them for excellence in governance.
The recent affirmation of the autonomy of Local Government Councils by the Supreme Court, in alignment with earlier state government pronouncements, has provided a level playing field for all Councils to rebuild and enhance their brands through strategic service.
As perception managers committed to professionalism and excellence, the NIPR has activated special structures to monitor, measure, and report on the performance-based public perception rating of the 16 LGAs, with periodic updates on specific indicators.
The NIPR concluded by celebrating the robustness of the electoral process and the new wave of development prospects, wishing the newly inaugurated executives a remarkable tenure in office.
