– Section 197 of the Criminal Code Act: Obstructing or resisting public officers can lead to two years’ imprisonment.
– Section 42 of the Police Act 2020: Citizens must assist in arresting or preventing the escape of suspects.
– Section 98 of the Police Act 2020: Assaulting or resisting police officers could result in a ₦500,000 fine, six months’ imprisonment, or both.
– Section 99 of the Police Act 2020: Failing to assist a police officer in danger attracts a ₦100,000 fine, three months’ imprisonment, or both.
