•••Receives Chieftaincy Title in Oke-Ero
Hon. Peter Gbenga Makanjuola, a former representative for the Ekiti/Irepodun/Isin/Oke-Ero constituency in the House of Representatives, held an interfaith Thanksgiving service at his home in Omu-Aran, Irepodun Local Government, on Saturday.
The ceremony, which spanned several hours, was attended by prominent figures from both within and outside the community, including traditional rulers, religious leaders, well-wishers, and political allies.
Alhaji Sodiq Muhammed Afolayan, Chief Imam of Omu-Aran, and Rt. Reverend Festus O. Shobanke, Bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Omu-Aran, offered prayers for the former Kwara lawmaker.
The Olomu of Omu-Aran, Oba Abdulraheem Adeoti, praised Makanjuola for his contributions to the community’s progress. “Honourable Makanjuola is one of Omu-Aran’s most distinguished sons. He has significantly contributed to our society’s development, and we are here to thank God for him. We pray that Almighty God continues to elevate him,” he said.
During the event, Hon. Makanjuola stated that the Thanksgiving was in fulfillment of a vow made to God. “Over the last eight years, I’ve faced many challenges. This Thanksgiving represents my commitment to giving God the glory for seeing me through those trials,” he said.
Discussing his political future, the former Deputy Governor candidate under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) confirmed his resignation from the party, noting he is awaiting divine guidance on his next steps. “God has always directed my path, and I trust He will lead me to the right decision,” he remarked.
Makanjuola Awarded Chieftaincy Title in Oke-Ero
Following the Thanksgiving service, Makanjuola attended the 100th birthday and 50th coronation anniversary of Obadofin of Ikotun-Ile, Oba David Ajibola Omope. At the event, Makanjuola was bestowed with the title of Otun-Oba of Ikotun-Ile in Oke-Ero Local Government, Kwara State.
In his response, Makanjuola expressed deep gratitude to the traditional ruler and the community for the honor. He stated that the recognition would motivate him to continue serving the Ikotun-Ile community.
“I am truly grateful for this honor, which reflects what God has enabled me to do for this community. Ikotun-Ile is my maternal home, and I will always strive to contribute to its well-being,” he said.
