The Ondo State Government has stepped in to mediate a brewing conflict between Okitipupa Oil Palm PLC (OOPC) and its host communities, following allegations of grievances raised by local residents against the company.
Governor Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa has initiated formal negotiations to address the concerns of the host communities. The state’s Attorney General’s office has been tasked with facilitating these discussions, ensuring a peaceful and constructive resolution.
The government highlighted OOPC’s significant contributions to the state’s economy and emphasized the need for businesses to operate within legal frameworks while supporting their host communities.
In a statement, the government urged all parties involved to practice restraint and prioritize dialogue over drastic measures. It also mandated law enforcement and relevant agencies to investigate the issues thoroughly and work toward an amicable resolution.
