The Premium Bread Makers Association of Nigeria (PBAN) has convened a team of industry experts to address the economic pressures facing the bread-making sector, aiming to develop adaptive innovations that can sustain competitiveness amid rising costs. The association made this disclosure in a statement signed by consultant Eddy Ademosu, on Sunday.
The experts will gather at PBAN’s second annual “Day-Out” event on November 21 in Lagos to discuss the theme “Innovations in a Dynamic Bread-Making Industry: Using Local and Affordable Alternative Ingredients.” PBAN President Engineer Emmanuel Onuorah emphasized the importance of adaptive innovations to navigate the unstable economic environment. He stated, “We examined the dynamics of the bread-making business today and believe that adaptive innovations are essential to navigate an unstable economic environment.”
The event will feature key industry stakeholders, including Dr. Jummai Tutuwa, Director-General of the Federal Institute of Industrial Research, Oshodi, who will serve as a guest speaker. Other notable speakers include Mr. Bolaji Anifowose of Crown Flour Mills Ltd, Mr. Ayodeji Oyinlola of Macadams Baking Systems Nig. Ltd, and Mr. Clestus Chibuko of Edcel Nig. Ltd.
The 2024 PBAN Day-Out will also include social engagements for members to relax from the demands of the bread-making industry. This initiative is part of PBAN’s ongoing efforts to ensure the baking industry continues to play a prominent role in the nation’s food security.
