A General Overseer of a new-generation church in Eagle Island and Diobu, Port Harcourt, has been detained by the Nigeria Police Force’s Octopus (C4i) Strike Force over allegations of homosexuality.
The pastor, popularly known as Elijah, was arrested after explicit videos of him engaging in same-sex acts were leaked to the police by a male acquaintance identified as Patrick. Reports indicate that Patrick, who had allegedly been a target of the pastor’s advances, pretended to go along and secretly recorded the encounters as evidence.
Acting on intelligence, law enforcement officers tracked Elijah to a relaxation spot in Port Harcourt, where he was apprehended and taken into custody. Sources close to the investigation claim that the cleric has admitted to multiple acts of homosexuality involving both adults and minors within and outside the city.
Confirming the arrest, the spokesperson for the Rivers State Police Command, SP Grace Iringe-Koko, stated that investigations are ongoing.
