President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep concern over the severe flooding in parts of Maiduguri, Borno State, and directed relevant government agencies to expedite rescue efforts. The President has called for the immediate evacuation of residents from affected areas, according to a statement by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
The statement noted that President Tinubu extends his condolences to the government and people of Borno State, particularly those who have lost their livelihoods due to the disaster. He assured Governor Babagana Zulum of the Federal Government’s readiness to collaborate and address the immediate humanitarian needs of the affected people.
The President has ordered the National Emergency Management Agency to assist flood victims and remains committed to mobilizing federal resources to support the state during this challenging time. The flooding in Borno State, triggered by the overflow of the Alau Dam, has affected thousands of residents, government facilities, and infrastructure, with wild animals also seeking safety.
