In the bustling heart of Ilorin West and Asa, a wave of excitement swept through communities as Honourable Muktar Tolani Shagaya unveiled a series of transformational projects across his constituency. With each ribbon cut, a new story of hope was born. Shagaya’s efforts have not only delivered essential services but also created an unmistakable bond of unity, pride, and gratitude among the people he serves.
One of the first projects to capture everyone’s attention was the renovation of a block of two classrooms with offices and furniture at Oke Ebo, Pakata LGEA Primary School. For years, the aging building had stood as a reminder of unfulfilled promises. But today, the newly refurbished classrooms, complete with fresh furniture and vibrant walls, serve as a beacon of hope. Students, once crowded into unsafe spaces, can now focus on learning in an environment that respects their potential. The air was filled with gratitude as people from across political divides gathered to celebrate. “This is more than just a renovation,” said a community elder. “It’s a testament to Shagaya’s promise to prioritize our children’s education.”
In Apalara Adeta, Shagaya met another urgent need with the provision of a solar-powered borehole and overhead tank with VIP toilets at Apalara Adeta LGEA Primary School. Water scarcity had been a constant burden, with students and teachers relying on distant, unreliable sources. But as the borehole’s first drops began to flow, there was an overwhelming sense of relief. The water system now supports the school and its surrounding community, who no longer worry about the health risks associated with unclean water. For one elderly resident, this project felt like a “gift from above,” and her words echoed through the community: “We’ll remember this forever.”
Perhaps the crown jewel of Shagaya’s recent achievements was the construction of a new block of six classrooms with furniture at Alore Junior Secondary School. For over five years, the school had struggled with overcrowding, and students were forced to learn in makeshift conditions. But Shagaya brought a solution the community had only dreamed of, turning those years of longing into a reality that was well worth the wait. Dignitaries, including Sheikh (Dr.) Mujtabah Bature Yusuf, Ajanasi Agba of Ilorin, joined the event, their presence a clear endorsement of the project’s significance. As the crowd cheered, a student beamed, “Now I know my education matters.”
Over in Gerewu, the renovation of a block of two classrooms with offices and furniture at Gerewu Community LGEA Primary School transformed another neglected building into a safe learning space. For years, parents worried about the crumbling structure, but today, they watched their children walk into newly renovated classrooms with peace of mind. The Gerewu community, touched by Shagaya’s dedication, gathered in numbers to witness the transformation, calling the project a “blessing that had revived the school’s spirit.”
Another critical project was completed at Asa LGEA Primary School in Afon, where Shagaya provided a solar-powered borehole, overhead tank, and VIP toilets. Before, students and teachers had to relieve themselves in nearby bushes, often putting themselves at risk of snake bites and other dangers. Today, with these new facilities, the students are assured of safety and dignity. Alhaji Issa Amosa Afon, a respected elder in the community, expressed what many felt: “We’ve never seen a representative like Shagaya. He doesn’t just hear us; he understands our needs.”
Across Gaa Odota and Alore, Shagaya also facilitated the renovation of classrooms and the construction of new ones, adding modern facilities and furniture that support a healthy learning environment. In Bakase, Shagaya replaced a crumbling block of classrooms with a safe and vibrant space, eliminating the constant fear of collapsing structures. Teachers, parents, and students alike expressed their joy, with one teacher summing it up best: “Honourable Shagaya’s actions show us he believes in the future of our children.”
These projects signify Shagaya’s dedication to Ilorin West/Asa and his ability to turn his constituents’ needs into impactful solutions. “These efforts go beyond structures,” Shagaya shared. “They’re investments in our community’s future.” And his words resonated with all present, reflecting his commitment to progress and the wellbeing of his people.
Yet, Shagaya’s work wouldn’t have been possible without the collaboration of the State Government under Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq (CON), whose unwavering support has amplified the constituency’s development. This partnership has transformed aspirations into real outcomes that address the daily needs of constituents, a testament to what can be achieved through unity and purpose-driven leadership.
For the people of Ilorin West and Asa, Shagaya’s projects aren’t just constructions or repairs; they are the foundation of a better, brighter future. As they celebrate, they look forward to what’s next, their hearts filled with gratitude and optimism. And with each project, Shagaya has proven that the best way to serve is by listening, understanding, and making good on promises.
