Inter Milan head coach Simone Inzaghi is set to leave the club after four years in charge, following a mutual agreement between both parties, the club announced on Tuesday. The decision, finalised in a meeting with club president Giuseppe Marotta, comes amid widespread reports that Inzaghi is poised to join Saudi side Al-Hilal.
“Inter Milan and Simone Inzaghi have mutually agreed to part ways,” the club said in an official statement, highlighting the coach’s professionalism, passion, and role in reestablishing the club at the top of Italian and European football.
The announcement follows Inter’s crushing 5–0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final over the weekend. Speculation about Inzaghi’s future had already been mounting, with Italian media now confirming earlier reports of a €50 million, two-year offer from Al-Hilal — rumours the coach had previously dismissed.
Inzaghi, 49, took charge of Inter in 2021 and was under contract until 2026. During his tenure, he led the club to one Serie A title — the 20th in Inter’s history — along with two Coppa Italia trophies. Despite reaching two Champions League finals in the past three seasons, he fell short on both occasions.
Inter’s campaign, once brimming with treble hopes, ultimately ended without silverware.
Marotta expressed gratitude for Inzaghi’s contributions: “I thank him for the work he’s done, the passion he’s shown, and the honesty in today’s conversation, which led to this shared decision.”
In a separate message, Inzaghi paid tribute to the players, staff, and especially the fans, saying: “I will never forget you.”
