Popular Nigerian social media personality, Martins Vincent Otse, widely known as VeryDarkMan (VDM), has reportedly been detained by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), according to his legal representative, Deji Adeyanju.
Adeyanju disclosed the development in a Facebook post on Friday evening, claiming that the arrest followed VDM’s recent criticism of Guaranty Trust Bank (GTBank) over alleged unauthorised transactions on his mother’s account.
Providing further updates, Adeyanju said a team of lawyers from his firm, led by Marvin Omorogbe, met with a friend of VDM who was also detained. However, the influencer allegedly refused to leave his cell during the visit.
“VDM was held inside the GTBank exit area for over five minutes, allowing EFCC operatives to apprehend him and his companion,” Adeyanju stated, adding that legal action would be pursued against GTBank for what he described as inhumane treatment of their client.
