The Super Eagles of Nigeria have announced their 23-man squad ahead of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against Libya. Head coach Augustine Eguavoen has selected a balanced team featuring a blend of experienced players and rising stars to navigate the crucial encounters.
Notably, Fenerbahce’s Bright Osayi-Samuel and Sevilla’s Chidera Ejuke make their return to the national team. Osayi-Samuel missed the September fixtures against Benin Republic and Rwanda, while Ejuke, who is currently among the top dribblers in Europe’s major leagues, returns after nearly two years out of the squad. However, injuries have sidelined Olisa Ndah and star striker Victor Osimhen, though the team remains confident in its ability to secure important points.
The squad includes solid options across the pitch, with goalkeepers Stanley Nwabali, Maduka Okoye, and Amas Obasogie competing for the starting role. Defensively, William Ekong, Calvin Bassey, and Osayi-Samuel will anchor the backline. The Super Eagles will face Libya in a two-legged qualifier, with the first match scheduled for October 11 and the return fixture on October 15 at the Martyrs of Benina Stadium in Benghazi. Players are expected to report to camp in Uyo by October 7 as the team prepares for these crucial encounters.
