Effective January 1, 2025, Thailand will introduce an e-Visa platform for foreign nationals residing in several African countries. This innovative system will allow residents from the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Republic of Benin, Republic of Cameroon, Republic of Ghana, Central African Republic, Republic of the Congo, Republic of Equatorial Guinea, Democratic Republic of São Tomé and Príncipe, and Republic of Chad to apply for Thai visas online.
The new e-Visa platform mandates that all visa applications be submitted through the online portal at [thaievisa.go.th](https://www.thaievisa.go.th/). Applicants will no longer need to submit their passports and original supporting documents in person at the Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja. Upon approval of their visa applications, applicants will receive a confirmation email. This email must be presented to the airline at the port of departure and to Thai immigration officials upon arrival in Thailand.
An important note for applicants is that the in-person visa application procedure at the Royal Thai Embassy in Abuja has been discontinued since December 20, 2024. Therefore, applicants are encouraged to take advantage of the new online platform for a more efficient and convenient visa application process.
