President Bola Tinubu has approved the tenure extension of the Comptroller-General of the Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS), Kemi Nandap, until December 31, 2026.
Nandap, who joined the NIS on October 9, 1989, was appointed as Comptroller-General on March 1, 2024, with her initial tenure set to expire on August 31, 2025. However, with this extension, she will continue to lead the agency for an additional year.
A statement released on Monday by Bayo Onanuga, the president’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, highlighted Tinubu’s commendation of Nandap’s leadership, particularly in the areas of border security, immigration modernization, and national security improvements.
“Under her leadership, the Nigeria Immigration Service has witnessed significant advancements in its core mandate, with notable improvements in border management, modernization of immigration processes, and national security measures,” the statement read.
The president urged Nandap to remain committed to advancing the service’s strategic priorities, aligning with his Renewed Hope Agenda.
Tinubu also reaffirmed his support for the NIS in ensuring effective border security and safe, legal migration.
