Vice President Kashim Shettima has made a passionate appeal to the people of Edo State to vote for Senator Monday Okpebholo, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, in the upcoming governorship election. Shettima emphasized that Edo State needs a strategic thinker and a man of the people who can rally the citizens and provide opportunities for all.
Speaking at the grand finale of the APC gubernatorial campaign in Benin City, the Vice President highlighted the recent improvement in revenue allocation to all tiers of government, noting that the APC-led government is working hard to bring relief to victims of flood disasters across the country. He assured the people of Edo State that they will benefit from the wind of positive change if they vote for the APC candidate.
Shettima commended the humility and sense of judgment of Senator Okpebholo and his running mate, Hon. Dennis Idahosa, saying they are the right people to lead the state to the promised land. He noted that the APC candidate has a proven track record of service and has demonstrated the capacity to lead the state to greatness.
Other dignitaries, including the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, and the National Chairman of the APC, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, also spoke at the campaign rally, urging the people of Edo State to vote for the APC candidate to reap more dividends of democracy. They noted that the APC-led government has a lot to offer the people of Edo State, including improved infrastructure, better healthcare, and quality education.
The APC governorship candidate, Senator Okpebholo, promised to give loans to farmers, employ over 5,000 teachers, build health centers, and declare a state of emergency on education if elected. He also promised to provide soft loans to market women and to build roads and other infrastructure to boost economic activities in the state.
The campaign rally was attended by several governors, including Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Dapo Abiodun of Ondo State, Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State, and Usman Ododo of Kogi State, as well as members of the National Assembly from Edo State and party stalwarts.
The rally was a clear indication of the APC’s determination to win the governorship election in Edo State and to continue its good work in the state. The people of Edo State are eagerly awaiting the election, which promises to be a keen contest between the APC and the opposition parties.
