Cristiano Ronaldo has confirmed he will remain at Al Nassr, ending recent speculation about a possible departure from the Saudi Pro League side.
Addressing questions about his future, the 40-year-old football icon said, “My future? Basically, nothing is going to change. Staying at Al Nassr? Yeah.”
The Portuguese captain made the statement following his side’s dramatic UEFA Nations League final victory over Spain, which was decided on penalties.
Ronaldo also revealed he had been nursing an injury but chose to play through the pain for the sake of the national team. “I felt the injury during the warm-up, and it’s been bothering me for a while. But for Portugal, even if I had to break my leg, I would. It’s a title — I had to play and gave everything,” he stated.
Reflecting on his career, Ronaldo acknowledged that retirement is drawing near but expressed his commitment to continue playing as long as he remains physically fit. “You know how old I am. Obviously, I’m closer to the end than the beginning, but I want to enjoy every moment. If I don’t get seriously injured, I’ll keep going,” he added.
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner also took a moment to praise 17-year-old Spanish sensation Lamine Yamal, calling him a “phenomenon” and predicting a bright future.
“Lamine is going to win a lot of team and individual honours. He’s a phenomenon with a long career ahead. He’ll win many Nations Leagues,” Ronaldo said. “He’s just 17… Please, let him be. He needs space to grow and stay calm.”
